Just as Hercules' Club, Honey Locust tree is a native of eastern North America, and can be seen from South Dakota to New Orleans, southern and central Texas. This tree is really interesting, with features Honey Locust 3-4 inch long spines that can cause serious injuries, if you're not careful. They grow on the trunks and lower branches, which probably means they have evolved as a defense mechanism against the skin of animals fed Honey Locust (Gleditsia triacanthos)
